Calvary Baptist Church has an active missions program that reaches into dozens of foreign lands around the globe. There are over thirty current missionaries that are supported by monthly financial support. Every year, a missions conference is held, usually in October, where current missionaries and new ones are invited for a several day conference.
Calvary Baptist Church supports missionaries abroad by a program called “Faith Promise Giving”
Fulfilling The Great Commission Through Faith Promise Giving
“he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15)
“….baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you….” (Matthew 28:19, 20)
The world is a mission field that needs the gospel – the good news – that Jesus Christ has already paid the sin debt they owe by His perfect sinless life, death (shedding of perfect blood on the Cross of Calvary), burial, and resurrection. This payment is offered to anyone willing to repent (turn away from themselves and their way of doing things and turning toward God) of their own sin, and acknowledging that they can’t pay the sin debt themselves. This act of the human will is done by God’s grace, through Faith alone.
What is Faith Promise Giving?
Faith promise giving is between you and God – nobody else. It is your commitment to God to support His missionaries around the world with the finances that He provides you. Your tithe giving is to the local church to support its local ministries and staff. In contrast, your designated faith promise giving goes 100% to support Calvary Baptist Church’s existing missionaries and the possibility of taking on new ones for support.
Each year Calvary has a missions conference. At this conference the members of Calvary Baptist Church are asked to pray about the amount God would have them to give to missions in the following year. At the end of missions conference week, members are asked to fill out a Faith Promise Commitment Card. This card contains no personal information and is NOT matched to anyone. It simply is an amount. For example, one card might say $25 per week. This information is collected so that the Church knows a general amount that is promised to directly go toward missions. No individual is ever approached and asked for their faith promise money. Faith Promise is not a pledge in the sense of a pledge drive as some may have seen. Faith Promise is solely between the giver and God.
